K1 Visa

If worst comes to worst, you could always marry, and file for an CR-1 visa. If your K-1 gets refused (let's hope it doesn't, but get plenty of evidence and as much visitations as possible starting NOW for the best chance of success on your K-1), that's really the best choice you realistically have then, but you could always take your chances on a 2nd K-1 application. The CR-1 is considered "safer", but it requires a little more of waiting, on the average about 2 months more than the K-1. Plus, you can get work immediately upon entering the US with an approved CR-1visa. With the K-1, you have to apply for EAD, and it can take several months to get that (up to 8 from what I've heard), and until you do, you can't legally work in the US. That is something to keep in mind going forward. Best wishes to you sir.

You don't have any problem at all. A week is not bad.some people spent less Dan a week together and just one visit, with a bigger age difference yet they were approved in same Lagos embassy.the law says u must meet at least once.it did not say hundred times.

Lagos embassy no get wahala at all with K1.just make sure the filling was properly done.nothing to worry about.

In some countries some people have met several times but we're still denied but Lagos embassy is very easy going.

Thanks very much man

While I disagree with the poster who said Lagos is an "easy going" embassy, (so many stories here on VJ would say otherwise), I think you guys probably have fewer red flags than most.  A 10 year age difference is not huge.  You're the same race and religion (those things should NOT matter, but.......).    The only thing I wonder about is whether the consulate will question that you do not yet have kids, and are entering a marriage where that will not happen?

It is great that you are planning for additional visits...that makes all the difference in the world, whether you ultimately end up with a K-1 or CR-1.

Best wishes to you both!

She has a well paid job, she stayed one week because of her work and she came at a time when she was on probation for a new position, she wasn't supposed to travel during her probation period but she was given a week because of the cordiality that exist between her and her supervisor.

Immigration doesn't care about the reasons ,    they care about the amount of time spent together

At the time i applied my son had had 21 surgeries (now 34)   and i still had to make 5 trips

Immigration still wanted to see quality time in Morocco

1 month

2 months to marry

1 month as immigration wanted to see a honeymoon period

3 months

and another 3 months

she can write a cover letter with applicaion explaining the job but probably won't make a difference

My name is Austin, i am new here. I met my fiancee online April 2018 and she visited me August 2018, i proposed to her on her first visit and she accepted. She spent a week with me in Nigeria. She met my parents and my siblings and cousin. She travelled back to the US and she filed January 2019. She will be visiting again by next month, she will be staying one week. She also promised to visit again and probably be with me on the day of my interview. We have 10years age gap. She is 53years and i am 43years old. Please what do you guys think about our case?

The age difference is definitely not an issue.

Hubby and I are 10 years apart too and it never came up.

As long as you have a real relationship you will be ok.

It is a long process and very stressful.

Just ensure you have all required paperwork and you will get through.

As stated, age difference is not an issue..I am 10 years older than my husband..The first time we finally met (March 2016) in Nigeria was a week visit...Met siblings, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends..Went a second time for 2 1/2 weeks (October 2016) is when we got married, went a third time (August 2017) while our petition was still in process at the USCIS stage, and went a 4th time (April 2018) to collect my husband to come home to America...We started out December 2014, gone for 3 visits, 10 years age gap, neither one of us has ever been married (a first marriage for both), neither one of us have kids, no RFE's during the USCIS stage, no checklist during the NVC stage, and he is now here since April 2018..I will say each case is different, but Lagos Embassy is not as difficult as it once was before..I will say get plenty of face time in and frontload your petition heavily to prove a bonafide relationship...Other than that, you should be fine...

4 in-person meetings is excellent.

I think it will be fine.

Hello sir

I would need your advice. My Fiance' is a US citizen and shes coming to Nigeria for 7 days  by September and we've planned having a court wedding within that time frame. I would love to know if a Fiancé visa is appropriate or a spouse visa cause shes still a student but has three kids.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Once you are married, you no longer qualify for a fiance visa.  You would need a spousal visa since you would be married.  Her being a student with 3 kids does not matter since those are not factors in deciding between a fiance visa and a spousal visa.
