My name is Austin, i am new here. I met my fiancee online April 2018 and she visited me August 2018, i proposed to her on her first visit and she accepted. She spent a week with me in Nigeria. She met my parents and my siblings and cousin. She travelled back to the US and she filed January 2019. She will be visiting again by next month, she will be staying one week. She also promised to visit again and probably be with me on the day of my interview. We have 10years age gap. She is 53years and i am 43years old. Please what do you guys think about our case?

Has she considered moving?

Many will say Nigeria is a hard embassy but in actuality , they approve more K1 visas than Morocco

Nigeria approved 63 while casa only appproved 17 (in March)

your age difference would matter more if you were young but as mature adults,  you have a better chance

# of marriages and divorces could be an issue

income is the most important so check out the poverty guidelines for the visa

100 & at K1 stage

125% needed for AOS after marriage

plan on working in the US as she is close to 62 and eligible for SS and medicare at that time and you can not be covered on that health care

so, you will need to pretty much be a big part of the income for your new family here

you are doing several visits so that will make a stronger case /but one week together is weak

Not to mention that Lagos is the most difficult consulate

I don’t think so, approvals in Lagos have increased greatly. 69 K1s were approved last month. People need to stop scaring others with this “Lagos is difficult”.

Logos used to be ahead but I agree I do not think that is the case any longer.

Personally, I think you have a few red flags such as proposing on first visit, high fraud issues in your country, age gap.......but these can be overcome with a lot of time together........Do either of you have children?  Previous divorces, different religion?  language barrier?  What if she has to move to Nigeria and live?

I wish you well...good luck.

I don't have kids, but my fiancee have two children. No previous marriages for both of us, she has never been married before likewise me. We are both Christians. No language barrier at all. We both speak English and she is black

She did but she is also thinking about her kids, it would have been so easy for her to move to Africa if she doesn't have kids

She has a well paid job, she stayed one week because of her work and she came at a time when she was on probation for a new position, she wasn't supposed to travel during her probation period but she was given a week because of the cordiality that exist between her and her supervisor.

How old are her children?

You don't have any problem at all. A week is not bad.some people spent less Dan a week together and just one visit, with a bigger age difference yet they were approved in same Lagos embassy.the law says u must meet at least once.it did not say hundred times.

Lagos embassy no get wahala at all with K1.just make sure the filling was properly done.nothing to worry about.

In some countries some people have met several times but we're still denied but Lagos embassy is very easy going.

Please don’t let any one scare you, what Lagos wants is bonafide and genuine relationship. Just research and front load your petition. God bless and good luck

I would suggest more face to face time in real life before applying, if possible. A week is a short amount of time for any country, an uphill climb for Lagos. Just be prepared for a lot of scrutiny. Good luck!

No need to scare somebody, but Lagos is still very well known to be a difficult embassy. Best to be prepared. Be sure to present a good case. Time spent i person is the best evidence available. Good luck.
