Can you apply for a passport right after the oath ceremony?

We just got the letter in the mail scheduling my husband's naturalization interview for June 1st at the Mount Laurel office.  I've read online that they often do the oath ceremony the same day at 3pm.  Would he be able to apply for his US passport directly afterwards?  He hasn't seen his family in Canada since we got married, and he'd love to be able to visit them all in July, in time for the Canada Day festivities.  But that's only a month from the interview date.

He can apply for the passport as soon as he has his Naturalization certificate in hand.  I would suggest making a photocopy of the certificate for your own records before doing the passport, though, since you have to send in the original with the application.

Whether he can apply for his passport at the same place where he takes his oath is dependent on if they provide that service at his specific ceremony.  Some do, some don't....so he may have to go to a passport agency or post office where he can apply there.  Remember to bring passport-sized photos as well.

Yes of course you can.  I had my oath ceremony on the Friday in Miami and was traveling the following Wednesday, so I was in the passport office at 9am Monday, and had the passport in hand the following day, on Tuesday.

Bear in mind that for an “urgent” passport like mine, they only accept people with proof of travel.  You can’t just go because you feel like it.  Regular people have to apply via the mail as normal.

By right after I meant in the USCIS office immediately after.  Like he gets handed his citizenship certificate and you hand them a passport form.

My oath was in Philadelphia on 15th  July,  2 pm.  I came to know from other's experience that it will take around 2 hrs.  I look US post office near  USCIS office, one  is 8 minutes from it and I booked online appointment @ 4:45 PM on 15th July.  We were done  oath @ 4 pm.  I went to post office, since they only work on appointment only after 4 pm , on walk-in.  Since I have appointment, I was called and I had passport application already filled in, 2x2 in photo and diver license both side ( photo copy).  Done with 20 minutes.  I expedited  and used Money order, so paid total 236. xx.  I able to track today 7/17, means my application is now with passport office.

Do they totally destroy the Naturalization certificate during the passport process (Mailing to and Mailing back process) ? Or do they handle it with care and not bend it?

I think, they handle it carefully, I got mine back without any fold mark.  Also, after you have passport, NC certificate will go on hiding somewhere in your storage and might not see daylight again.
