Montreal consulate visa selection

When I did it back in 2016, I selected the date and time myself.  They only did K1’s on certain days, and the “time” was more of a time to arrive, rather than the time you will interview.  I had a Wednesday appointment at like 11am, but ended up being first in line at like 6:15am.  So when they opened, I was the first K1 processed.  They didn’t ask about the time because they wanted to stagger arrivals.  Not sure if it still works that way or not.

I selected my interview at Montreal in 2018. As noted above it’s just a time to get to the consulate. I would advise arriving early. I ended up walking out of the consulate at the exact time my interview was supposed to be, yet the process had taken roughly 40 minutes or so. Good luck!

Thanks for your quick response! So you did you just get a date, and had to “select a time”? I just want to confirm that you were unable to chose the date. Thank you!!

I selected the date for myself, but there were limited options.  MTL is 7 hours from where I was living so I wanted a Monday or Friday appointment (also to coordinate with work), but those days were not available so I assumed they only did K1’s on certain days (like Wednesday and Thursday), but I was able to choose the actual date, bc I needed to push it out a couple weeks from the time I was ready for scheduling.

I haven't gone through the consulate process yet but I was under the I I'm that for IR1/CR1 that the NVC will schedule the appointment for you, but for K1, you schedule your own.

Your timeline suggests you are filing for CR1/IR1?

Really? I had mine on a Friday. Maybe they have changed the days they interview K1s now. In fact, it would make sense they would have had to expand it since 2016 because the Vancouver consulate stopped processing K1s that very year.

Then the NVC will schedule your interview.  I suggest going to it since picking a new date is highly hit or miss (you have to miss your original to even get the option) and far between.
