Hi all, I know they require my last 3 tax returns for I-130 process, but 2 will be filed late. Here is my situation:

2016 Taxes - i had a normal income but i did not file it back then because i owed a lot. I plan to file this year.

2017 Taxes - i cashed out my retirement account but I did not file my taxes. I did not have a job for 2017. I plan to file this year.

2018 Taxes - i only worked 2.5 months this year but i have already filed taxes for 2018.

I know i will need a sponsor but my question is, will having 2 tax returns filed late and not working for a long time give me problems? I was living off my retirement savings for a couple years. Thanks as always!

As long as returns  are filed before completing your I 864 you will be fine

If you are using a joint sponsor, your income is not relevant. Depending on your assets you might be able to meet the financial requirements using assets

What you worked/earned this year has nothing to do with 2018 taxes. The 2018 taxes cover 1/1/2018-12/31/2018.

Sorry, when i said "this year" i meant 2018. I know 2019 is not relevant as far as tax returns go.
