I recently got AP and I am planning to visit my family and prepare for a wedding.

I searched about AP and it seems like people visit their country for the emergency reasons. Am I able to return to the U.S. after just visit my family and for a wedding preparation. Will I have trouble go through the customs?

if you have your AP/EAD card you can travel in and out as long as it is valid until you receive your CC in hand.

if you do not have this if you leave USA you will not be allowed back in, and then a CR1 visa will be required to return.

AP is not only used for emergency reasons. You should not have any trouble returning to the US. Lots of people use it to visit friends and family.

This is a common misconception but yes you can travel outside the country with AP for whatever reason you want. Also you won't have trouble going through the POE so just be natural and don't worry.

AP/EAD travel is no problem.  You still go thru immigrations and customs.  Usually you can go with your spouse the the USC line.  It just depends on the "Greeter" / airport.  Otherwise both go thru the foreign passport line.

Hi Juri I traveled on AP last year and everything went well. Just remember that you'll be send to secondary inspection but that is standard procedure and nothing to worry about.

Hi Larisa.That’s good to know!

I can mentally prepare for that.

Thanks a lot!
