I applied to remove conditions on my Green Card in October 2017. We received a 12 month extension then received a letter for a further 6 month extension which takes me through to june 12th of this year. At this point I have 6 weeks until it runs out. Has anyone experienced this and can anyone advise us on what will happen if it does run out? Currently the state of PA will only issue me a drivers license to the end of my green card extension (in June), and I’m concerned the school I work at will also have to let me go as I won’t legally be able to work. Does anyone have any ideas that can help us?!

You are not losing your status in the country because the proof of your status expires.

If you need proof of your status for work, school or travel, you just make an infopass appointment at your local field office to get a i-551 stamp in your passport.

100% correct, though it's still a hassle. My state refused to give me an extended driver's license, limiting me to a one-year validity, which is the limit of the I-551 stamp.
