Not even 2  years ago because they have not went to the next step yet. She’s got a 2 year green card. My friend had no clue what I was talking  about When I asked about the interview

Effective May 15th, 2018 the policy changed. Prior to that K1 AOS applicants were usually waived the GC interview.

Now, nope.

USCIS has toyed with the idea of AOS interview waiver several times. We had our AOS interview in November 2012, and got an ROC interview waiver in May 2015. Dodging one interview bullet sounds like a good deal,. Though not sure if there are any advantages to either scenario?

YMMV.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
