We got married very quietly (only her best friend as a witness) in October of '16 and were planning a big party for summer of '17 when my nieces and nephew would be home from school.  Then we got pregnant and that put an end to the big party idea. When we filed the I-130 paperwork, I included a letter detailing our relationship up to that point and explained why the wedding was small, but it really wasn't necessary.

We married in a civil ceremony with my parents from the US.  Her mother didn't have a passport.  We had a little reception in her hometown the next week.

Do what works for you and your spouse and have fun.

My husband and I did not have wedding because we have no family here at all. So we didn't make a big deal out of it and just celebrated to ourselves at home. We do not care about wedding celebration. We rather spend money on honeymoon but I‘m concerned it doesn't look good on the application??

Courthouse wedding here, too. We don't like attention. You'll be just fine.

we also wanted just me and my husband .  But then his friends became offended, they wanted to spend this day with us, plus the husbands parents live in the next state, and they wanted to come.  So we decided to buy a suit and a white dress, I made a haircut, we ordered a bouquet and a photographer for 2 hours, we ordered a restaurant for 15 people.  We spent $ 2,000, but we had a great time with his friends and family, and we have a lot of beautiful wedding photos.  By the way, we signed the court house, and his friends took time off from work for a couple of hours to hold a ceremony with us.  You can spend some money, but have a great time.

My husband and I were married in a court in his country and we had no wedding party, just a small get together with a few of his family members and I never thought to take any pictures. We didn't have any issues whatsoever. This was my second marriage and I didn't want a big celebration.

We had a simple and nice wedding ceremony at courthouse and from there we all went to have lunch at a hotel restaurant with my husband's closest circle. My family could not be present since none of them ( my closest relatives) had tourist visa at the time. Instead of a big celebration, we used the money for a nice short trip to Disney.

Married by an officiant on her farm with her goats and chickens roaming around. Wearing a $30 dress (seems to be more common than I thought 😃), two witnesses who were actually the officiant’s neighbours, and went for dinner afterward just us and our one year old. Went home with a bottle of champagne. One selfie taken on my iPhone because my husband never takes selfies with me but obliged on this day. It’s not an issue. But I second not giving “can’t afford it” as the reason. Not a good idea to draw attention to lack of financial resources.

If I’m asked I’m just going to tell the truth: we love each other and want to make the lifelong commitment, but neither of us are big on weddings and all the stress that goes into planning them.

We had just a court house wedding with 2 friends as witnesses, later on went to a bar and ate pizza .

A few pictures from that courthouse ceremony are the only pictures in our AOS package and we asked our witnesses to make a notarized affidavit for us .

That is all and I hope enough.

I bought my wife a $10.00 dollar white dress at H&M on sale in Phoenix for casual wear but when she saw it she wanted it to be a wedding dress.   Everyone drove down to Magdalena,Sonora for a courthouse wedding with 3 witnesses and both of our parents.  Afterwards we headed to my in laws house and prepared an all night party in the backyard with rain and everything you could think of.  My wife's aunt made us a wedding cake for free, my parents and I chipped in for all the food/drinks etc.  We all had a blast!  We also rented 4-5 tables for $80 bucks.  Then my parents and us headed to Puerto Penasco,Mexico by car for our sort of honeymoon at a beach house for a couple of days.  A year and a half later we had our interview at the consulate in Juarez and now we are here living in Tucson. So even we got approved despite being on a shoe string budget.  Its clearly understandable that people don't have money for a real wedding.

We had a courthouse wedding and actually got married with 4 other couples out in the hallway.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner afterwards.

There are no pictures of that day. Just great memories.

We had a wedding ceremony in late May  of the same year that our families and some friend attended.
