Hello everyone,

Pls is anybody here having an idea of how my expired green card can be renewed whilst I'm outside the US. I've been away from the US for the past 12 yrs but I now need to return to the states. Is it possible for my mum who's a US citizen to file for me again???

How have you maintained the U as your permanent residence, if not then your Mother can file for you.

If you’ve been out for 12 years, you abandoned your GC long before the expiry date on the card. Yes, your mom will have to re-file. Are you over or under 21? Married?

If you remain single for the whole processing time you can be petitioned under F1

If you marry at any time during the process the category goes to F3

The processing time and wait for the priority date to become current depends  on your home country

Current estimates 7 to 25 years.

You  cam see the current wait times on the USCUS monthly bulletin
