Petitioner Birth Certificate Issue

Hi everyone, NVC rejected my (petitioner) birth certificate as invalid. For background, I was born in China, naturalized US citizen and now applying for my mother's green card (IR5). The birth certificate I submitted has my mom's name and was accepted through the I-130 process, so I'm not sure what's the issue. However, it is in a different format than my mom's birth certificate, which is translated/notarized according to NVC country specific civil documents guidelines. Do I need to get my birth certificate in the same format, or are they just asking for proof of US citizenship? Thank you

Yes, you do need a notarized Birth Certificate if you were born before 1996 because it has no English translation.

Thank you for the reply! My current copy is translated by a certified translator, is that different from notarized version?

I guess you are born before 1996. So you will need a copy of your Birth Certificates from China Notary Public Office (Gong Zhen Chu).

Your mom will need a original copy of your Notary Birth Certificate when interview in Guangzhou. NVC just need a copy for you to upload to CEAC
