Hi there! That's what my fiance and I plan to do. Once I cross into the United States we are getting married there then once I get my AP, etc approved we plan to have a reception with all of our family and friends back in my home country (Canada). Since it is cheaper for everyone! :)

Congratulation!

After discussing the time length, potential fees and our situations (we can't live together if we don't marry even though by law we can get marriage certificate but it's not valid in our faith) with my gf, we decided not to pursue Fiance Visa (thank you to Carmel34) so now we're looking at spouse visa.

thank you everyone.

I'm now deciding to pursue spouse visa instead.

I will fly to my gf home country and marry there.

My next research will be "how do I prove to the marriage council committee in my gf home country that I've never been married."  The record only exists if there is activity but if no activity, how can I get the record.

Its refreshing to see someone come to this forum, ask for information and advice, and then take it! You'd be surprised how many people either come here for advice after they've started on the process, and/or argue with those giving advice about the fairness of the process, etc (things over which we have no control).

Bear in mind the spouse visa takes a while (around a year or so). However at least when your spouse is approved she can come to the US and work immediately.
