Hi guys,

I have some questions if anybody wants to share their experience please feel free.

1) I have sent in my AOS paperwork on April 12th, tracking number from USPS says its been delivered April 16th but as of today, April 24th, still no digital receipt, physical receipt (NOA1) or case number has gotten to me. Is this bad? Is this normal? I'm reading about other peoples timeline being quicker. Should I call somebody? If so, who?

2) I know waiting times for EAD are long right now and I don't really want to wait. Does anybody have experience with applying for jobs while waiting for their EAD, securing a job offer and requesting for expedition based on that? If so, how did you convey during job interviews that you are not actually legal to work in the US yet? Did your future employer mind that you came into interviews this way or were they okay with it? How long did you wait to tell them? Any advice on this matter is welcome.

Thanks!

It can take up to 30 days for receipt notice (NOA1). This is normal.

As for jobs, you can apply but exactly, have to convey to them about your situation. You'll get a lot of people not wanting to interview you probably as they obviously will know it may take a month or so still until you could work. But if you did receive an official offer you can try to expedite on that yes, but this also should not be expected.

Hi, it has only been 8 days for you since USCIS received your packet. I did not receive any update until 20 days after USCIS had my packet. Some people are processed quicker and that's just how it is unfortunately. Hang in there.

I unfortunately don't have experience with the latter question so I'm sure someone else will be able to help with that!

I think I will apply to at least get some experience in job interviewing in the US and if I will be valuable enough to a company I hope they'd be willing to wait the month. Or at least they'll have my information if positions still aren't filled later on. I am unsure about at which time in the process would I convey to a potential employer that this is my situation: can somebody who has been through this experience please enlighten us how they've decided on in which part of the interview process they did this?

Apply for the job, if the application asks for it, check No for "do you require sponsorship" and Yes for "do you require work authorization". That will weed out companies that won't want to wait.

Go to your interviews. If they go well, mention at the end of the interview that you are planning to expedite your pending EAD application, which may take another month, and therefore you can't start immediately. If they won't want to wait, they'll let you know.

You need to have completed biometrics before requesting an expedite, if you're required to do the biometrics.

Here's the rest of the information on expediting:

We are in the same situation. We sent the AOS packet April 1 and USPS tracking said it was received April 3 and we still have not received any word on it. We are on the 23rd day since it was received. My wife and son's visa expires May 2, 2019 so I am concerned that it could be a factor. Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I be concerned??  Is there any way I can check the status before receiving the NOA??

You are looking for the check being cashed (assuming you used a check as payment) that usually shows the quickest.

Have been keeping an eye on that. Theyve now had it since april 16th and not cashed yet...
