I am a canadian visitor recently married to a USC.Filling out the forms for aos,and have some questions..

1) for questions that don't apply to me,do i leave them blank or type "n/a"?

2) where it asks for my family name i am putting my maiden(i am keeping it) and then asks for other names used..should i leave it blank, type "n/a" or repeat my maiden?

3) do i need to file DS-230? I of course do not have an alien registration number, this is something i assumed would be assigned to me once my package is in process-but i wasn't aware of this form until now,and am confused as to wether i need to file it or not

4) the checklist for the I-130 asks for both my husband and i to fill out G-325a. I-485 also asks for me to fill that out.So my entire package should include 3 sets total of the G-325a? (seems excessive) and also,i am confused why my husband has to fill this out- everything on it pertains to me,the applicant?

5) on the AP form part one has a box labeled "class of admission" -what do i put here?

6) form I-485 part 2 asks why am i applying to adjust. The options are

a)an immigrant petition giving me an immediately available immigrant visa number has beenapproved. (Attach a copy of the approval notice, or a relative, special immigrant juvenile orspecial immigrant military visa petition filed with this application that will give you animmediately available visa number, if approved.)

b)my spouse or parent applied for adjustment of status or was granted lawful permanent residencein an immigrant visa category that allows derivative status for spouses and children.

c)I entered as a K-1 fiancé(e) of a United States citizen whom I married within 90 days of entry,or I am the K-2 child of such a fiancé(e). (Attach a copy of the fiancé(e) petition approvalnotice and the marriage certificate).

d) I was granted asylum or derivative asylum status as the spouse or child of a person grantedasylum and am eligible for adjustment.

e)I am a native or citizen of Cuba admitted or paroled into the United States after January 1,1959, and thereafter have been physically present in the United States for at least one year.

f)I am the husband, wife or minor unmarried child of a Cuban described above in (e) and I amresiding with that person, and was admitted or paroled into the United States after January 1,1959, and thereafter have been physically present in the United States for at least one year.

g)I have continuously resided in the United States since before January 1, 1972.

h)Other basis of eligibility. Explain. If additional space is needed, use a separate piece of paper.

None of these appear to apply to me- so in my explaination,do i just say "married to USC" ?

I think thats it for now- sorry for so many questions and i appreciate any response!

I am a canadian visitor recently married to a USC.Filling out the forms for aos,and have some questions..

1) for questions that don't apply to me,do i leave them blank or type "n/a"?

Do not leave anything blank. If it doesn't apply to you, put n/a or 'not applicable'. If the answer is 'none' do not put 'not applicable' - put 'none'. (ie. previous marriage, etc.).

2) where it asks for my family name i am putting my maiden(i am keeping it) and then asks for other names used..should i leave it blank, type "n/a" or repeat my maiden?

I kept my maiden name as well. Put the name you are using for your family name. If you have used any other different names, either first or last, then list them. If you have never used any different name, then put 'none', not 'not applicable'. Again, don't leave it blank.

3) do i need to file DS-230? I of course do not have an alien registration number, this is something i assumed would be assigned to me once my package is in process-but i wasn't aware of this form until now,and am confused as to wether i need to file it or not

Oh, I don't remember about this. The information should be in the instructions listed above. No, you will not have an alien registration number yet as you arrived in as a visitor. Put 'none' in this space.

Yes, it is excessive and yes, you need to complete the set of G-325s wherever they are requested and for whomever they are requested. While you will include all of the forms together, they will get separated and adjudicated by different individuals at different times. For example, the I-130 will be adjudicated before the I-485 so each form needs to have its sets of attachments included with each form. Your husband is the US citizen and the benefit for which you are applying is as the spouse of a US citizen, so he too files a set of Biographical forms as supporting documentation for his right to confer the benefit on you.

5) on the AP form part one has a box labeled "class of admission" -what do i put here?

uncertain. You arrived as a visitor and are in the process of adjusting status, - someone else might have a clearer idea. Again, it may be in the instructions at the top of this forum.

The answer would be h) other. You are submitting the I-130 along with the I-485. The I-130 will, if it were approved, allow you to apply as section a, however, since it hasn't been approved yet you need to write out an explanation using a separate piece of paper if necessary and state that you arrived as a visitor with no intention of immigrating, however, once in the US you and your US spouse decided to marry, so he is applying for an I-130 petition (enclosed) for you upon which you wish to receive your AOS (I-485 enclosed) once the I-130 is approved from within the US so you can stay together.

Hope this helps. Do read the guides though - they are a wealth of information.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I have read the guides-i have spent a TON of time browsing and reading up on everything. My questions are fairly specific, and the guides don't clear them up,Also, everything pertains mostly to those who are adjusting FROM a visa of some sort, which is not my case.I thought posing them here would be helpful.
