I was wondering what is the process for obtaining a co-sponsor. I was speaking to an attorney that was giving me the poverty levels and Of coarse I didn't meet the guideline. I didn't start my job until June of 2006 so that wasn't enough time to make 30,000. I have 2 children so of coarse that played a part in the amount I would have to make for a 4 family home. I heard the poverty levels were going to increase this year making it harder for normal everyday people to meet. :help: :help: :help: I don't know who I can even ask that will be willing to sign forms for him. If anyone can share their experience with me with getting a co signer I will appreciate that.

CASE COMPLETE (THANK YOU JESUS) December 13, 2007

.....Dont you know that Gods Favor is more precious than Life....

I never would've Made it without You Jesus.....He allows some things to Run there coarse, but have no fear God is in Control......He has the VERY LAST say So and he will perform his word.

If you have two children, don't you also get child support for them? That can be included in your income. I started my job in Feb. 2007 and I don't make enough to meet the guidelines and I sent in the I-130 last week. I make enough when child support is added though. My thinking.. they won't need the affidavit of support until his interview, by then I will be at the job for 6 months which is all that is really required. From what I've been told by others who have been through this, they care more about what you currently earn, that you are currently working, and cannot be considered a public charge.

Someone I met on VJ told me that she was a student and didn't file income tax all through college because she wasnt required to. She filed the I-130 in may. She got a job in June, he had his interview in December and he was granted the visa because she had worked for 6 months already. She didn't use a co-sponsor.

You can get co-sponsors though. If you read through the affidavit of support instructions that come with the form, it details how to go about using a co-sponsor. Assuming you have someone willing to do this for you, it's not that big of a deal.

Good luck!

Thank you for that so the income thing is not that much of a big deal, yes i get child support for them which is only about 6000 a year. I was just so worried that, the income will be the only reason my husband will not be allowed to come over. I say that only because they ask for w-s forms from last year 2006. If they consider my current w-2 im in business. Thank You much for the advice it was much needed.

You're very welcome! I'm sort of in the same dilemma right now and I'm hoping like crazy I have enough to satisfy those nutballs at the Lagos embassy. I had no income in 2006 and only a part time job in 2005.. before that I was a stay at home mom (I also get support for 2 kids) which shoots the income tax evidence out the window. You have one up on me in that you had an income last year.
