Greetings to everyone! I must say, today is my first day to delve into the extreme monotony of the endless sea of paperwork and red tape to get my man over the pond! I suppose the bureacracy is to ensure you really love the guy huh??? I mean...he HAS to be worth all the microscopy and documentation. It's nice to see this forum here for support....we are not alone in our frustration and confusion. I'm sure I'll be checking in for advice and encouragement. Cheers!

It is uncanny how those British men are attracted to Texas girls...is it because they think we talk funny??? *smirk* It took a few months before I could understand the Newcastle Geordiespeak....we had to go online and type together the first few times! LOL!

I don't talk funny, I talk normally. Everybody outside of Texas talks funny, though.

Naw, seriously; I don't really have a strong Texas twang, though I can turn it off completely or crank it up to the point where my husband can't understand me, as the situation warrants. If you're stopped at a gas station in rural Texas making small talk with the guy at the register, a strong accent is called for. Job interview in Dallas, dial back on the accent or lose it completely.

The Texas gals know what I'm talkin' about.:secret:

I've noticed that my accent will change depending on company. I normally don't have an accent other than a generic, non-discript American accent. Not only am I from Texas but I am Hispanic as well so I will either speak Texan or a little Tex-mex. I have caught Jonny saying 'Ya'll' and he admited to me the other day that he started using some of the Spanish words I use for things I can't ever remember what to call them in English like Cumin = Comino  "Babe, where do you keep your comino?" "My what now?" "Comino... little seed spice thing that looks like fingernail clippings." "CUMIN!"

What's cute is, his accent changes also! There's the accent with a slight hint of Yorkshire for when he talks to me, and then the thick Yorkshire accent he uses when he talks to everyone else

I admit, I do talk with a drawl especially when i'm tired. But i've acquired a few 'Britishisms' from spending so much time over there....it's funny to hear me combine them. What's REALLY funny though is the Geordie slang with a texas twang. 'Hadaway y'all!'. Peter was here for three months I nearly had him converted to Texan, then he had to go back. I'm back to not knowing what he's saying and making him type it. ohhh and thank heaven for msn and yahoo chats!!! Anyone try skype? I just wonder if that's any better than msn or yahoo. Right now we do video cam on msn and phone on yahoo because they don't work well on the same system for us. He'll be here June 27th for a month long visit. We'll be collecting our 'evidence' while he's here!

Sounds like fun to me....We'll be in Colorado for the fourth of July (last year I made Peter wear an old navy flag shirt to watch fireworks as we celebrated independence from HIS country..oh how I love ironies!), but we could work in some time for sure!

I've already started on my I-129F form, I've even got some of the 'stuff' together to send with it. I don't even think I'll need a lawyer.....I'm SO excited! :star::star::star:

Lawyer? Hehehehe...you won't need a lawyer unless your fiance has a criminal record or he has had previous visa issues...or even a serious medical condition, in which case you may need to file a waiver. In any other case, lawyers usually end up wasting a hell of a lot of time and costing you a hell of a lot of money. Trust the people here; they give good advice and it's 100% free.

If he's squeaky clean, he should sail through.
