RFE required, IRS copy of Tax Return needed

Has anyone experienced this requirement and contacted the IRS for a copy of a past return to satisfy AOS requirements? I submitted the IRS request apprx. one month ago but no response, hasn't even cashed the money order yet, but it was received at their correct office address. I need this according to USCIS within 60 more days or the case will be dropped. Any suggestions or comments?

check not cashed? It seems you requested the "hard way" return, where they actually dig up the physical copy of your return, photocopy it, and return it. For purposes of the immigration stuff, the electronically-generated transcript is sufficient. It can be ordered via automated phone system from the IRS and is free. It takes about 2 weeks or so to receive after you request it.

I got my tax transcripts faxed to me while I waited. No charge. BCIS was satisfied with transcripts.
