Isn't that pretty irrelevant for asylum though? Isn't it supposed to be for people who need to flee and absolutely can't stay in their home country for various reasons? I had a professor once who was the agricultural minister of Madagascar and while he was here on a business trip there was a coup. He got political asylum because he would most likely have been killed if he had returned.

So it is pretty irrelevant if the person can offer something to the United States if they could get killed in their home country. And yes, I know a lot of our current asylum seekers are not in this category but that is what asylum is for though right? To protect people from other countries who can't possibly go back.

Your professor's situation is valid (and he DID have something to offer the U.S.).

It isn't organic that caravans of thousands of refugees are all of a sudden appearing at our borders.

It isn't to the U.S.'s benefit to have that many landscapers & maids.

It's curious indeed that these people try to enter the U.S. rather than Panama, Costa Rica, or closer "safe" places.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'll see the timelines and try to compile stats, but over the course of a year while im here i've noticed that trend.

People with EAD's/AP's/AoS's never took this long as it is now. Now im talking 2012-2015 vs 2018-2019. I'm information and data geek.
if i'll have time in the future, remind me and i'll do a comparison for EAD AP AoS K-1 and CR-1 processing times 2018-2019 vs 2016-2017. It'll take hell lot of time, but i think a lot of people here would be interested to see. Admins would have to be on board as well as i'd need access to many people's timelines with more filtering that what Igor's list offers now.

That is the same thing I was thinking too.  I know that the USA has meddled so much into their governments over the past 200 years but at the same time its weird that all of sudden when Trump becomes president it increases ten fold.  It almost feels like he is being trolled by either Soros, Pueblos Sin Fronteras or Bartolo Fuentes (huge anti american journalist from Honduras) or all of them at the same time.  The more Trump gets angry the more migrants come.   It feels like they are doing this just to try to destabilize the administration or the USA as a whole.    Watching the news from Mexico the IMN (mexican ICE) is already trying to stop the flow of Central Americans entering as the Obrador administration is feeling pressure from the Mexican public that no longer give the caravans warm welcomes.

Well if I wanted to destabilise an opponent this is certainly one route I would take, has a very high bang for the buck. You can cause large and long term issues for a small investment.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

On talk radio today, a caller from El Paso stated that the English-language El Paso media are very quiet about the hordes outside & inside the border -- such as no reports about the two groups (totaling what: 600? 800?) caught at two Nuevo Mexico POEs just yesterday.  The Mexican television stations, conversely, are reporting on it.  This includes displeasure expressed by Mexicans who've applied for visas and who now have a 6-month wait while the illegals merely waltz in.  The caller also stated that people are visiting the gyms and other "holding places" for the illegals in Ciudad Juarez and are coaching the illegals on how to behave and what to say to CBP.

2. You replied to what I wrote:

Besides which, if LA County fails to ever deliver a marriage cert and then denies ever receiving a signed marriage license, then the couple cannot prove it married before the 90 days.

Your response totally fails to address my point. An organization that takes 12 weeks to get a marriage cert is an organization that will lose marriage records.\

3. There are most definitely repercussions:

1. Sorry but it depends on the state. I kept my marriage certificate and submitted the filled out and signed, and notarized marriage license for AOS without issue.

2. Again you are acting like this has something to do with USCIS. When in reality you need to go put a fire under someone's ### in LA County to see why it is taking so long. I wasn't happy with how LA County ran and did things that is why I got out of that stupid county as soon as I could.

3. I never said that there wasn't repercussions but the vast majority of people have no issue going outside the 90 day authorized period unless you live anywhere along the border. Which if you take a trip anywhere close to El Centro or Brawley you will go through a immigration checkpoint.

You sir are taking that out of context. There is NO repercussions filing for AOS late which means that there are no repercussions like: fines, increased scrutiny of the petition, or anything else. But the people have to file the AOS first.

If you are getting this intense with people because of LA County's screw up then you should just drive the 4 hours to Vegas and get a quickie marriage and marriage certificate that way.
