Police Certificate for DCF

Visajourney,

The following link states that my wife who is applying for a visa DCF needs a police certificate.  She can get hers in China, no problem, but she studied for 9 months in Australia, returned to China, and then studied for 3.5 more months in Australia.  Is the requirement listed from the website cumulative?

Have you ever lived anywhere else outside your country of nationality for more than one year?

  • If yes, please also provide a police certificate (with a certified English translation) from that country which covers the entire period of residency.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my question.  I really mean: Does my wife need to obtain an Australian Police Certificate?  I wasn't sure if the time she stayed there was cumulative or if it resets when she came back to China.

Cumulative

YMMV

Hey All,

I have so many questions that come up.

Can the police certificate required for my wife's stay in Australia be received by a friend and scanned instead of shipped to China?

There is a section on the form for specifying the mailing address for the completed check.. So yes, you can have it sent there.

But you will be required to have the original certificate in your possession for the interview so it will need to be physically sent to you anyway

Thanks Lil Bear for your comments.

How did you find out the police certificate must be the original certificate?  The Guangzhou Embassy instructions document doesn't specify it needs to be the original for foreign countries.  It's only an original copy from China (because a notarized copy requires an original).  See attached Guangzhou Embassy instructions for what I'm looking at.

Point taken .. I was going on my experience of needing to take the original of  all documents sent as copies to the interview. May be Consulate specific .. though I’d be surprised if they didn’t need to see the original of it at some stage ...

i took a read  through the link ..despite lack of clarity , my take is that the non Chinese PC is an original. Other sections talk about a copy of of something .. I’d be checking to make sure your interpretation is correct ..hate for your processing to be delayed for an avoidable issue

Yeah, we are still going to go out of our way to get the original.  I was just getting feelers out there in case some went to the embassy without the police certificate.

If anyone else on VisaJourney went to the embassy without the original police certificate let me know.
