Hi everyone

About to attach the last civil documents to my NVC application, and have one question regarding the birth certificate:

I was born in Belgium but my nationality is danish where I live. Until now I have understood "original birth certificate" as the one I have been issued from Denmark, its official with watermark and signature, and states that I was born in Belgium. Will this suffice or should my original birth certificate be issued from my country of birth - Belgium? I dont have my birth certificate from belgium as I was baptized with one surname less in Denmark the year after my birth. Hence why it would make more sense for me to just send my original birth certificate issued by denmark.

I will have my interview at the Stockholm embassy, so perhaps I should just contact them to ask?

I would suggest that you also get a registerindsigt/access to register from borger.dk or registerindsigt.cpr.dk where all information about you can be printed out.

I didn't send the original one since it's handwritten and old 😁 I sent the last relevant one. I did get RFE for my divorce papers which we don't have here any more not for BC

Original doesn't necessary mean the first one as it would in Danish.

Hi, sorry but not sure how that would help if its less “authentic” looking than my birth Certificate and Will say the same information?

my birth certificate derived from Denmark is original and authentic, it is just issued by my Danish municipality and parish and not the country I was born in

Your birth certificate is from your country of birth which may or may not be your current nationality

YMMV

Thanks for your quick reply but may I ask why -  is that stated anywhere?

I have an original, signed, and with watermark birth certificate, stating my name and where I'm born. It is issued by Denmark and not by Belgium, yes.

If I HAVE to use my belgian birth certificate I need to have it translated, as well as attach two other documents documenting my "name change" after being baptized after 1 year, losing one of my surnames. Both these documents are in foreign languages and would have to be translated, making it 6 documents instead of the one official issued by Denmark in english. I think it would be very complicated and less simple for everyone involved hence why I am posting.

Registerindsigt is far more detailed than BC including name changes etc which is why I suggested the option of including that together with a copy of your Danish BC and it is already translated.
