Let me start off by saying I am Canadian, I do not own a vehicle at the moment. My fiance is from New York state who hasn't ever had the need for a vehicle due to the public transit in NY is very good. So she doesn't have a drivers license. She currently lives in New York and we we're planning to move to Florida state after getting married since most of her family is there.

1] Let's pretend that we have now married in New York now, and its time to start the AOS process. Meaning we have to submit the EAD it would be better to submit from Florida and not from NY right?

2] Now we move to Florida and I go buy a vehicle, will this be an issue? I would be buying a vehicle straight with out any loans. Pure cash.

3] Setting up car insurance in America without my EAD/Green Card will that be okay?

4] I read on Florida DMV that Canadian's can instantly swap to Florida state drivers license without any testing and whatnot...? The only thing is how would you go about proving you are Florida state resident if you are both so new to the state? I guess it doesn't matter since my Canadian driver license would still be valid? I could just drive with that until I can prove we are Florida residents?

I was under the impression that I NEEDED to have my EAD before being able to get vehicle insurance but after reading another thread it seems that it isn't the case. It is quite hard to get a straight answer was hoping someone with experience would be able to shed light on my question.

Thank you! :)

Ah yeah, it looks like a bank statement with a utility bill from apartment would be pretty easy to come by!

Yep.  Should be able to pick up 2 of those items in a short time.  Florida gives a new resident 30 days to get a FLa license.........

Slightly off topic:  My wife was able to swap her Taiwan driver's license for a Texas driver's license without taking any tests.....She just had to surrender her Taiwanese license (Texas sends them back to Taiwan).

Proving residency in FL will be easier than proving legal presence.  You dont need legal presence for insurance or to own a vehicle. But you will need it for a driver's license and likely a FL DL to register the vehicle.
