Hi everyone:) I have a question in regards to the letter of intent to marry. I visit my fiance in his home country Jamaica every couple of months, for the past two years. While I was there I wrote by hand, ONE intent to marry and we both signed it (wet). I sent that along with our K1 back in December. We haven't been approved yet and I am concerned about getting an RFE because I am reading that we were supposed to each write our own separate letter of intent. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've seen people post here that they sent just one joint letter with no problem. I used a separate one from each of us for our K1. I don't think it is too much to worry about. We even took updated ones to her interview because it took 7 months to get to the interview, and I had read you may need updated letters of intent for the interview. They looked at them, but didn't seem to care. I think you will be fine with a combined letter of intent to marry.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

It can be one piece of paper but  each individual needs to state their intent

YMMV

Yes people have as of late been getting a RFE for just one letter of intent, but on the other hand some go through just depends on the Adjudicator looking at your case.

Depends on how the single letter is written.

YMMV

Thank you all, I think I will have him write a letter of intent of his own just in case and send to me. We have come so far and hopefully we are almost there. I'm so tired of waiting.

We wrote a joint letter because he was visiting me at the time we filed.   We worded it “we intend to marry each other within the 90 days of Alec”s arrival into the United States on the K-1 visa” etc.  We both signed it.  No RFE.
