Hey everyone!

I just got a letter from the US Embassy London confirming they have my petition.

What I don't understand is what this Priority Date is on the letter. It gives a date in early Feb this year.

Did my petition expire? What's up with this date?

Edit: I believe its the first date the NOA2 is valid from. I checked and the two are the same. What do you lot think?

The priority date is the date that a visa was available to you. They use the same form no matter what visa you are applying for. Some visa categories (such as F2A, F4, etc) have to wait for their priority date to be current in the visa bulletin before a visa is available to them. That’s why you hear of people in certain categories (siblings of USCs, for example) waiting upwards of a decade for a visa.

In short, you can ignore it as they don’t apply to K-1 or immediate relative visas. It’s only on the form because they use templates.
