We needed certified copies of the birth certificate when he applied for a driving license,  and  life insurance policy 

at his first medical here in the states the dr copied his shot record

when he applied to college they took his school records

 

we keep multiple records of important papers (one set at home and one in safety deposit box)

that's what i thought, because our papers expires in 90 days as you said. 

Anyway I will take with me the old ones that I sent to the NVC as well as the new ones.
