Hello Everyone,

My interview is on the 6th of May, and I have some questions. I would appreciate it if you answer!

CR1 Visa.. I want to know if I have to make the 'APOSTILE' for my translated documents, such as (marriage certificate, birth certificate, court and police reports)

Also I got my police report on the 6th of February, so it will be 3 months on the day of the interview. Should I get a new one ? or is it ok ?

To get clarity, are you asking if you have to obtain an apostile for these documents or if you have to have it translated? Because I only have one for my marriage certificate, which I did not need translated as it is in French and English already. I don't think you need an apostille for those other documents.  I have not heard of one person from Morocco stating they were asked for this at the interview and it's not a required document at the NVC stage either (I uploaded the one included with my marriage certificate anyway).

As far as your second question, I've heard of people getting "temporarily refused" until they supply the original police certificate/court record that they uploaded to CEAC. Some people have  gotten a newer one for the purpose of the interview but the CO asks to see the first one (the one uploaded to CEAC) even if it is expired. I was wondering if I should have my husband get updated ones too just in case and have him bring both old and new. His expires in a few days and his interview is a month from now.

My husband's expired a week after his interview so we got a new one just in case and they only wanted the one that was uploaded.

They also did not take our apostille certificate, only our marriage license

Thank you.

So in your opinion, based on your experience and the experience of others at this consulate, is getting an up to date police cert and/or court record a waste of time and money? Or do you think its best to get it anyway?

I only ask because my husband would have to go aaaaalllll the way to Rabat (which is almost 3 hours from where he lives) to get the court record (or police certificate I cant remember which one) and it just seems like such a hassle to go through if it's not necessary.

My husband got his from the city he lived in...why would he need to go to Rabat to get it?

Yeah my husband also got his court record in the city he lives in but for the police certificate, it states that must be obtained in Rabat.

"If resident in Morocco, obtain a Moroccan police record from the Ministry of Justice in Rabat (Office of Penal Affairs and Pardons)."

from: https://ma.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/marriage-information/

And all other sources I've seen always mention obtaining this certificate in Rabat regardless of where the Moroccan lives. He had to go there twice- 1st when he needed it for us to get married then again this past January to get a new one for NVC.

You can order it online and pick it up at your local courthouse....

Well I wish we would've known this.. Is that what your husband did? How long did he have to wait for it to be delivered to the courthouse, is it like, instantaneous or you have to wait a few days or weeks?

That's what he did; what I did when we got married and what most people I know have done. It took a week at the most

I'm not asking for the translation because of course i will translate all of the documents, I am asking for the apostile for those documents. because the apostile is not mentioned anywhere I don't know if i should get it or not. I got the apostile for all those documents before when i sent them to the NVC, I still have those old ones but I'm getting new documents just in case they ask for it. because here in morocco our documents validity ends after 3 months.

Ok  can not be your translation

needs to be from a certified translator with their offical ID

according to embassy on the following  website

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/CSB_Casablanca.html

All documents not in English must be accompanied by an English translation. Translations must be certified by a competent and registered translator.

as for criminal reports

must obtain a Fiche Anthropometrique and a Casier Judiciaire from the Central Police station at their place of residence. the one oomes from Rabat but you don't have to go all the way there to get it

and as long as the clearances are current at time of interview no problem

It is my understanding that the apostille certifies the documents for international use. We could not think of a time he would need those papers in the US so we did not apostille them. No one has asked him for them yet either.
