Unemployed petitioner, joint sponsor at London Embassy?

Hello! My partner and I have been looking into the K1 visa process for a while now and she is currently finishing the I-129F.

My partner doesn’t work so we need both her and her mother to fill in the I-134 as she will be the joint sponsor. Her mother supports her financially and will be supporting me as well as she makes well above the poverty line. Will this be accepted? My partner herself has savings but no taxable income, so she cannot sponsor me alone. Will her being unemployed look bad? Also, how should I word this to the embassy when asked at interview? Could my partner submit proof of her savings alongside proof of her mother’s support? Does the London Embassy allow joint sponsors when the petitioner is unemployed?

Before this inevitably gets asked: my partner does not work because she simply does not need to. She has an annual allowance that she can live comfortably on in her mother’s home. Her not working means she can visit me for months at a time in the UK and we can spend time together.

London allows you to self sponsor so you can use your savings for the I 134. When you adjust the process is different you use the I 864 and your income/savings would be part of the joint household.

How much must be in savings in order for the petitioner to self sponsor? I assume with the I-864 that her mother would be an acceptable sponsor because we will most likely be living in her household?

It was enough for 90 days so not much, you would need to check what they are currently looking for.

Adjustment is a loooong way down the road so, you will get EAD so can work, the spouse is always the Sponsor, Mother could be Joint Sponsor of needed.

London allows joint sponsors. Happens all the time. They don't frown on you or get emotional in their decision. Sure they may think it's a poor way to go into a marriage, but their personal feelings won't allow for visa denial. Provide a sponsor (mother) and you meet the requirement. Done.
