Hello fellow members!

My wife's case is still in AP for 4 months now and her police report is expired in December. the embassy hasn't told her anything but i just curious about it. The case is updated every 4-5 days without a progress.

is the letter from senator helpful while the case is in AP?

if anyone has gone through the same situation do comment please!

Thank you everyone.

The police report has to be valid at the time of the interview.    If a newer one is needed they will let her know.   Generally it isn't.

Can't tell by your post about where you filed so nothing to say about AP.

The police was valid at the time of interview but it expired . i filed for my wife when i was LPR and it was on may of 2017. when i became citizen, they expedited and she got her interview on Dec of 2018. i filled at embassy of Nepal. they even called our parents to verify the marriage.

i'm having mental issues because of these wait and i'm looking for an option to expedite the process, if there is one.

Thank you

There is no way to expedite AP.   You can ask for congressional inquiry but there is nothing they can do to speed it up since it is AP.

Police report was gotten more than a year ago? If so when the consulate is ready to issue a visa they will ask for updated documents.  Dont get them until that time.

Wow, it sucks to be in AP for unknown amount of time. Seems they had a serious doubt on your marriage, as calling parents is extremely rare. Hope you get the approval soon.

In the mean time, I suggest your your wife to get a new police certificate . It’ll be valid for one year from the issue date and it will be handy if the embassy asks for it.

we only married legally and we still have to do it socially, that's the reason , they are having a doubt.

My wife's passport is still at embassy so i'm not sure how to apply for police certificate without one.

Thanks..

Ah i see the reason. Yeah they know about Nepalese social marriage ceremony and usually don’t question much for people marrying traditionally. Good thing they have kept her Passport. Police certificate can be made only if the embassy asks for it at which point your wife can ask the passport back. Good luck
