HELL YEAH the man is going to work! He just got his EAD card and is ecstatic. I swear, it was like Christmas Day for him. He is a carpenter and, since we knew he wouldn't be able to work at first, we decided to buy a fixer-upper house. Seemed like a great idea at the time, but we didn't take into account the complete lack of contact with any other humans besides me :(

Plus, we have been surviving on my salary, but, when we lived separately and were both working, we had gotten used to having money for a lot more extras. He can't wait to buy fancy shmancy tools (yes honey, I know it is "As seen on TV", but do we really need a ... blah blah blah) :) Whatever, when he works, he can indulge his love of gadgets.

And I will get to become the massage junkie my body knows it is meant to be!!!

Abso-freaking-lutely! He's worked since he was old enough and is and is ticked at NOT being able to work. Plus where else will he meet people? He's mad that he's found all these jobs online he wants and can't apply yet ;)

We live in Southern California, therefore we both have to work to survive.

Nyah nyah...I've been to SoCal, what's the attraction? I get it if someone was born and grew up there, but why do people MOVE there?

We don't get hurricanes, tornadoes are rare and small, snow is kept at a respectable distance up in the mountains, lots of sun....

Otoh, the legislature is to the Left of Chairman Mao, traffic is obscene, gangs have infested many areas...

But, it is the place I was born and raised, and my family, most of my friends, and my church are all here....moving out is just not a consideration.

I'm convinced every part of this country (and every other country) sucks in its very own special way.

What a charming sentiment

I've been here just over a year and haven't worked. Dave works 6pm-4am, so if I got a 9-5 I'd never see him. We don't need the money to survive. Saying that, you can never have enough!

I do start college next month to become an EMT. I'll be part of a voluntary quick response team at Dave's firehall initially, but might go part time at the local EMS station once I'm more confident.
