For the first year she will not work, so she can get used to living in America. After that it will be up to her. But it would be nice for her to work a little, (part-time), so she could have something to do with her time. But in the end it will be up to her.

I voted that it is up to her. She is going to have to take some time to get used to it here, but she has mentioned she would like to work. I think it would be nice because she is working full time in Thailand now and does well for herself.

My husband will be completing his schooling here for a few years before he works, although he might get a summer job if he doesn't take any summer classes.

Gary was fortunate to find a job within a few weeks of receiving his EAD. Aug 7th he will be working there a year.

My husband starting working as soon as he got his EAD. He's a very social person and this was a good way for him to get out and meet people too.

I voted for my husband - he can't wait to work. He gets bored at home and is used to keeping busy (work).

It'll help him learn English faster and as you all said - get used to living here.

Plus, it helps us out.

It will take him a good three months or so though before he is able to apply for a serious job....which is probably how long it will take for him to get his EAD I would imagine. He will take some ESL courses to improve his writing and it will take him some time to navigate around the city, learn how our money system works, ie. how to make change, how to know which stores you can bargain with and which stores you just can't do that in, etc.

She definitely plans to work when she gets here. But she also plans to have a baby, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all works out.

Of course he's gonna work. Because I'm a lazy #######, I just sent in the papers for his EAD today. He'll start (God willing) once that's approved. I figure we can use these few months (before EAD is issued) to work on his spelling, getting a driver's license, etc. before he works.

well, I have been here for over 2 years and I haven't worked outside of the home yet not because my hubby won't allow it or whatever .....

I need a car to get a job and I need a job to get a car

part of me is terrified to get a job too.... I had a hard time back in the little town I was from never mind trying to find a job here in the LA area plus I have no idea what I want to do....
