Does a translation need to be notarized

I have a document that I need to submit that had to be translated.  I translated it myself, however I need to somehow get it certified.  Does anyone here know what the proper procedure is for this case?

Just put this statement on it and sign:

 

CERTIFICATE OF TRANSLATION I, ___________________________, am competent to translate from ________________ into English, and certify that the translation of __________________________________ is true and accurate to the best of my abilities _____________________________ ______________________________ Signature of Translator Name of Translator Address of Translator ____________________________ Telephone Number of Translator

Okay.  I was concerned so I wanted to make sure I dotted my i's and crossed my t's

 

I have an acquaintance who is a professor at a local university who teaches that language.  I asked him to vouch for the translation and I would throw him 20 bucks.

The translator.. you .. simply need to make the statement as outlined by Missileman.   It does not need  third party verification

Just FYI, notaries do not "certify" the content of documents.  They confirm identity/witness signatures.
