One of the requirements in lifting your condition is to have your friends write a letter stating that your marriage is true bla bla bla... Have anyone here LIFT their condition without submitting LETTERS FROM FRIENDS?

Not a requirement. Just another piece of evidence you can submit. We sent them since it was no big deal to get a few and were approved without an interview. Would things have been any different had we not included them, who know. Probably not going to make or break you one way or the other, if you can get a few do it, if you can't don't sweat it.

It is not a requirement; it is a suggestion.

We did not include them, and were approved without an interview.

Send quality evidence that shows you really live together in a marriage. There are several lists posted here. Please review the pinned post at the top of this forum.

I am going to be starting the "lifting conditions" process very soon (Sept 2006) and I was under the impression that they were necessary.

I would rather not have to ask any friends to write the letters if they aren't absolutely necessary, but the instructions for the I-751 kind of make it sound like they are necessary.

Now I don't know what to do.

And, as a side question..... I was told at my daughter's (K-2 Visa holder) AOS interview in February by the Officer that did her interview, that I could add her to my I-751 application. She will not have had her 2-year GC for 2 years at the time I apply (she will only have had it for 6 months) so how could this be possible? If I hadn't been told by the Officer at USCIS during the interview, I would think I had been given wrong information, but wouldn't that Officer know this?

I am going to try to add her to my application, but won't be surprised if they don't lift her conditions until she has had her GC for 2 years.

When you read the I-751 instructions, it almost seems that if you don't have much other evidence of ties (financial etc), then a couple of letters would be useful.

That's how one lawyer (whose opinion I trust) states it, too. Basically, if you don't have any other evidence, use the affidavits.

There's another lawyer who wouldn't send an I-751 out without them.

I weighed it up, looked at the quality of our evidence, didn't like the idea of asking our friends, and decided against it. It's totally up to the couple filing & I've read of cases approved with the letters and without. I don't think I've ever read of an I-751 outright denial.

On the kid thing, read back in this forum and the archive; I *know* someone has posted on this before.. maybe mdyoung can shed some light..

I went back and re-read the instructions -- it just says "examples of [evidence of marriage] documents are" and then it lists some different things, including affidavits. I don't think that means you have to have everything on that list.

"When all else fails, read the instructions."

You don't need the Advits (adfits?) whatever of support. I had contacted my old lawyer about this before we had sent our information out. He said, it is evidence, but it's not highly regarded as proof, but as mentioned, if you have very little to send you might want to do that.

I never sent any and got my 10 yr GC without any problems, so if you have some good info to send them, then I wouldn't bother with it...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...
