Hey Guys!

I moved to the US last June from the UK on a K1 visa, I got married in July and then received my expedited EAD/AP combo card In early September. I am still waiting on my Green Card Interview so last month I requested to renew my EAD/AP and I received the NOA1 for that. Philadelphia field office is pretty slow I think, so I could still be waiting another while on the Green Card interview.

My husband and I have been living with his parents for the last 10 months but now that I have been working for the last 3 months we are finally ready to move out and buy a house. My husband and I both have decent jobs and earn decent money but I earn a bit more money than him so we want the mortgage to be joint and not just in his name. I have also started building credit in the US. Will this be possible for me to be on the loan while I am still waiting on my Green Card?

thanks!!

I recently got a mortgage and my husband (from Australia) had no issues and we were waiting for his AOS (we were approved but no card so really, we couldn't claim that he was a PR). If your AOS hasnt been approved yet, they may question your current working rights and if you will be able to work into the unseen future. It seems like if you have the EAD and can prove you can renew/are waiting for your AOS, then its not an issue. There may just be additional questions asked.

That depends on the bank....

But they usually want to see a Green Card and if they are even more picky then they want a 10 year GC.

I had the exact opposite experience. May I ask which bank you used for future reference?
