Being divorced, especially both people means having appropriate documents to show that divorce has been legally finalized by the time of dating/proposal - takes time.

Kids mean additional dependants - additional check of financial eligibility.

Proposing after a few days of meeting means an additional check of secondary evidence to make sure the relationship is real.

The more straightforward the case is, the smoother it goes (from all I've seen). I may be mistaken - would love to hear everyone's input.

1)  Divorced?  Means reading a document or two, delay 5 minutes.  Nothing says that someone needs to be free to marry at time of dating/proposal.   You need to be free to marry at time of filing of the petition.

2)  Kids?  Means you go to a different place on the poverty eligibility matrix.   Zero delay at the consulate

3)  Short  courtship?  Most k1 interviews are  10 minutes or less.  So are we talking a whole extra minute or two?

So 5 minutes more by the USCIS and 2 minutes more by the consulate

One child is 24 yrs old the other is 16 yrs old and graduates next month ! Money is not a issue ! Only one child can come ! So they have no reason to hold it up after they check everything!

Exactly,  this isn't an issue of any kind

YMMV

The one who has been working on your case:

- Took a very long vacation.

- His wife cheated on him so he has not been in good mood.

- He just quitted his job as he realized he could do much more than reading others’ paperwork

- He just retired as he won a jackpot

- His boss just fired him because he talked too much

:) one of these may delay your case’s approval.

It is a pain to wait but some are luckier than others - thinking too much will make the wait more painful.

I more of liken it to a massive grocery store with a hundred checkout lanes. Some go faster than others. Some people choke up the line with slow or insufficient payment. Sometimes something doesn't scan and everybody has to wait longer.

There's always another line going faster than yours. There's always another line going slower than yours.

Don't focus on the other lines. Your turn will come.

Well heck then I must be in the line that’s marked 15 items or less, cash, only but everyone has a full cart, the checker is half blind, with arthritis, getting price checks on every item and the customer has coupons and a checkbook PLUS we bag our own grocery. Thats the line Im currently in.

Yes , but I want to know if I did everything wright filling that book of our life ! Lol ! I know once I get pass this then it would fly from there ! My opinion only !

If you think after approval things are going to fly, you're in for a surprise. You could end up in AP for months or years after the interview. Something can go wrong at the embassy ( they spilled fish sauce on my fiancee passport photos at the embassy after Visa approval and it took me a week to get them new photos) so anything can happen. Fish sauce cost me an extra week of processing.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

That fact that you met on tindr, alone, should have no impact. I met my husband on tindr. Good luck!

I just wish to get through this first part ! I know it’s the longest part !

You would do well to not fixate on where you are in relation to others in their own visa journey. It could make you go a bit crazy.

I disagree with your comment about the first part taking longer. As an example, it took us 271 days to complete the K1 portion of our journey, yet it took 279 days to complete the ROC portion of our journey.....in our case, it took about a week longer to complete ROC versus K1....YMMV

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
