What's an anchor kid? I assume it means someone born in US then return to home country only to later relocate to US and file for family. Is that right?

It means, in my understanding, something pretty close to that.

Anchor kid (to my understanding) is someone born in USA on purpose. Meaning lets say mother is German, pregnant, goes on B-2 to USA. Child is born to USA thus gets US passport. then thru child, parents gets Green Cards. thats just in a nutshell.

She did nothing of the kind and now is that pertinent to this discussion

She apparently unlawfully worked in the US whilst only having a B-2 tourist visa.

Your clarification has only one conclusion. Everything starts with a USC. So USC is the problem not an LPR.

I am well aware of that MIL thread. That too started with the USC. Even if the wife is planning to do what u said, extending her mother’s status till she can do AOS after becoming a USC, it’s a USC matter again.

This sort of immigration problem is broad. My only question is how’s not allowing LPRs family help solve it if you keeping allowing USCs petition for their family?

LPR is a problem to begin with. You're looking at the wrong end.

All hell breaks loose with Frauds in the first place. There would be less LPR's if anchor problem would be solved. If there is less LPR's THERE ARE LESS NATURALIZED citizen to do such acts.

B2->Kid->green card->family petitions THATS the pattern. You don't come to USA with K-1 or IR1 and become citizen, do you? You're going down this hole the wrong way. Funnel out the wrong LPR's, and you'll have to deal with a lot less USC petitioning for 30 people families.

USC's born here with several generations in US aren't the problem. It's the LPR's that become USC's that are a problem. N-400 is ridiculous too. i won't go there. But if people who can't even speak english can pass it, it's just insane.

Country of immigrants, call it whatever you want. It's not 1800's anymore where one ship with 1000 people used to come in. Millions come in a day.

A anchor baby is referred to as a Illegal immigrant that has a child here in the USA. That child is automatically a USC no matter what and thus we are supposed to go easier on that illegal immigrant mother because she now has a USC baby. There are legitimate accounts of illegals that will do anything they can in order to have a child a here in the USA so that the child is a USC. This is because it is much harder to deport a illegal immigrant if they have a USC child/newborn.

Also some states (like CA) will give all sorts of financial/housing assistance to the illegal family even though the only one that qualifies is the USC newborn/small child. I have seen it where a family has a anchor baby and that family receives enough assistance for that whole family based off of that USC child.

You should never be able to AOS off of a tourist visa.

Of course they should be. If you overstay you ought to be denied immigration benefits for a time or permanently. If you cannot follow immigration laws, then odds are you won't follow other laws either.

ALL illegal aliens are criminals and ALL of them ought to be deported, no matter what.

The next crackdown should be on bogus asylum claims. Gang violence, your husband beating you, or just "wanting a better life" are NOT grounds for either asylum or immigration but I digress.

No I'm not, since my status adjustment is being adjudicated and I'm allowed to stay here. I briefly did not have legal status since I filed for AOS with the wrong fee attached but that's been rectified. The NOA does not give immigration benefits but it does give legal status.

It wasn't an overstay since I came in seeking immigration benefits, not visiting

tbh I could have just adjusted off of my B1/B2 and it would have been fine but I wanted to do it the right way. Just a tad more expensive.

DW bro you are good.

Yeah overstay is bad when your intention was visiting. Out of status is a different thing since you didn't misrepresent your intentions at the port of entry.

I realize that I could be deported or denied re-entry at any moment if I do something wrong and that's the way it should be. Immigration is a privilege, not a right.

Why is it insane if the citizenship law allows certain people take the civic test in own native language and waive the English requirement test?
