Hello everyone,

I understand that I have to pay $535 for I-130. Are there any other fees that I need to aware of?

Better prepared than surprised :(

Application fee, AOS fee, immigrant green card fee, medical exam fee, and any translation fees

The immigrant fee can be paid anytime after approval of the visa. It’s highly suggested to do so before POE so you get the physical card in the mail sooner. But it can be paid after POE if needed...there’s just not a good reason to do so.

Is she of working age? If not, be prepared for medical premiums. If she will be working, not much of an issue but if she won’t be working she or you will have to provide the medical coverage - she won’t be entitled to Medicaid or Medicare until she becomes a USC (if she decides to go down that route).

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

She will be 54...I already spoke to my company and she can work part-time. Insurance wise, my company allows to get insurance from the company but she has to pay herself (which is quite skyrocket). so yeah...one step at the time. Get her here first and then we will talk about work and insurance. I covered under tricare which is a blessing but what I understand that my mom cannot be with us because she is a parent
