From the link you posted:

IR-2018-01, Jan. 04, 2018

WASHINGTON ― The Internal Revenue Service announced today that the nation’s tax season will begin Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 and reminded taxpayers claiming certain tax credits that refunds won’t be available before late February.

The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on Jan. 29, with nearly 155 million individual tax returns expected to be filed in 2018. The nation’s tax deadline will be April 17 this year – so taxpayers will have two additional days to file beyond April 15.

My question is that last year my accountant filed for me married filing joint. My husband has never been to the us. Should I file the same way this year? I am worried that if I file married filing separate this year and they ask for both years they will question why I did them differently

I'm surprised why you accountant filed married filling jointly if your husband has never been to US. you cannot file unless he has SSN. your filling status would be single before your husband is in US and has SSN. Even though IRS and immigration two different thing, the TAX fillings makes a difference.

Not correct!   If married, you can not legally file as single...no matter where the spouse lives...

None of this is correct.

1) You cannot file as single if you are married. The only options are married filing jointly, married filing separately, or head of household (in limited circumstances with a non-spouse dependent in the household and having lived apart for at least the last 6 months of the year).

2) You can file jointly with an SSN or ITIN. An ITIN can be obtained via a W-7 for a foreign spouse.

If married on the last day of the tax year, you can file "Married filing Jointly" (if foreign spouse has a SSN?ITIN), "Married Filing Separately", or "Head of Household (if applicable).......but you can not file as "Single".....

My husband filed single as his accountant said he can’t file married yet as I don’t have SSN and I know he can but he can’t get it amended right now he is sick and on meds.

So my question is that we uploaded tax transcript 2017 to ceac. Are they gonna ask for tax transcript 2018 on the interview in may?

His accountant is 100% wrong............yes, you will need 2018 tax year transcripts at your interview...

Just take the 2018 tax transcript with you to the interview.  I'm sure they will want the latest year.....his incorrect filing status (single) will not be an issue.......

221G Blue Form: A 221g Blue form simply means that they are asking for extra Supporting Documents that is required by the US Embassy to take a decision on your Visa Issuance.

doesn't have to be about taxes

and not sure why you wouldn't do the same as an accountant did last year

BTW  April 17 is the day they need to be mailed in which should have been extended at least a month for the long government shutdown

No, the deadline was today unless you live in Maine or Massachusetts.

Why should the deadline have been extended because of the government shutdown? The IRS was still working during that time.
