Voluntary withdrawal for admission- consequences

Hi,

I am a physician and a couple of years ago I was traveling to the States on a b1b2 for clinical shadowing at a hospital. I live in canada and was driving across the border. I was asked for any documents regarding the observership. I showed them a print out of my conversation with the physician I was going to shadow. They asked me to contact the physician and get an official document about the observership.

It was a holiday and I wasn't able to contact the physicians office because they were closed. I was offered to voluntarily withdraw and return when I receive the official observership document.

The very next morning, I received the letter from the physician and drove back to the same border and entered with no issues. Since then, I have traveled to the states 7 times for various reasons and have had no issues.

Now I'm applying for a j1 visa for a residency training program. I'm super worried about the consequences of voluntary withdrawl.

Can anyone please tell me if there will be any negative consequences during my Visa interview ?

I doubt it.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
