Called request for expedite, waiting for approval

Just question for anyone who got expedited on i-130, what is the process like?

I called military hotline to explain the situation, I said my wife was on my order(married on oversea tour), and won't be able to come without a proper VISA, and I also mentioned that I am highly possible deployment coming up next year ( just stating the fact that my deployment windows will be open ...) and the person on the phone actually just accepted my request, and then provided me an request for expedite confirmation number or something, and told me just to wait about a week to see if it gets approved or need additional paperwork via email.

I am active duty member, I am not tasking to deploy as of right now, am I just lucky this person over the phone just requested it for me ( read some post that some agent over the phone won't even accept request if not deploying) ?

Did anyone get lucky too that one phone called expedited the petition without any documents?  Just curious how this whole thing works.

Yes we are not a military couple but our case was expedited without a single documentation being asked. They just gave an email for us to send a letter explaining our situation and we did just that and two days later we received a reply to our email which said our request to expedite was granted and they asked us to wait to hear from our local cosulate because our file skipped the nvc and was sent to consulate.Same day 8pm Ukrainian time our case  status changed from transit to at Kyiv.It took us 5 days from fees payment and uploading civil documents on ceac and we chose our interview date without embassy deciding for us. So you too maybe lucky. Our own reason to request for an expedite was simply because My USC kids have been with me here since oct 2017 so we needed to relocate so they can catch up with a proper  educational system back home. Goodluck.

N.B just saw your timeline and realised you just sent in your i130, ours was expedited after noa2 I am not really sure about uscis expedite but if u did DCF I think it will be pretty much faster too.

Thanks for the info!!

yeah I just sent the i130, and I did not do DCF, I was ineligible cus I’ve returned to US  .

getting i130 expedites and approved is really the only thing I’m looking for right now.  US Embassy Tokyo actually already emailed me, that they will reach out NVC for me to expedite the process once the petition is approved..

They usually won't do it unless you have actual orders to deploy sometime soon or actually have orders to deploy but good luck.

just an update to the expedite...

I got the email back from them 2 week a go, requesting supporting documents.

I have since been working on it, I am planning to send in my PCS order with my wife in it, and the letter from my commander explaning my deployment status and some kind words.( it worked on some application, based on this post

It’s been a while, but I think what the commander back then wrote was that me not getting the visa impacts my spouse’s ability to deploy. And they deploy a lot. My spouse would have thrived okay on his own. So, I don’t particularly understand why it would affect his ability to deploy. But I was a new spouse to a military member back then, so maybe that’s why I didn’t understand.

We were living overseas (not my country of origin) so my stay there was contingent on his presence there (SOFA status). If I had not gotten approved for a visa before my spouse had to fly to the CONUS assignment, I would have had to fly back home and wait out the visa process there, which I know a lot of people here had done or are doing.

Thinking about it now, I don’t know exactly why it was approved. I just remember what the commander’s memo said. And I'm glad it worked!

However, the due day of the documents is within 14 days, and the letter won't be ready for another week.  I am going to resubmit the expedite request once I have all the letters ready this time.

well, guys.

I finally gather all the documents and I drafted a letter myself and signed by my supervisor, stating I may deploy anytime soon (which is the fact) and some other stuff,

I send in the documents on 10th May, TSC received on 14th.

Guess what? I called USCIS today just wanted to ask question regarding to change my spouse's last name, they told me it is kind too late I have to ask to change when the file get to national visa center.

I was shocked, like what? why.

and she told me, because the peition is approved!!! on 16th May.

Can't wait to tell my wife about the update!!!
