I sent them a service request for my non existent biometric appointment/ waiver. I got all excited today when I saw I had an email from USCIS, only to find the following:

The status of this service request is:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records show your case is in line to be reviewed by an officer. We ask that you allow additional time for this process to take place since we process these cases in the order received. If after 60 days you have not received anything in the mail, please contact the USCIS Contact Center at the number provided below.

I guarantee you it took them more time to send that email, than to see what the heck is going on with my biometric appointment. Frustrating.

I wish I was at the point I could send a request.  :( No doubt I'd get the same response you received.  Ugh!!!

The USCIS website shows the history of processing of cases by case type over the last 5 years.  RoC's are at the highest they've been in the last 5 years.

Super frustrated here....we have been under the "Ready to be Scheduled for Interview" since 2020.  Haven't heard a thing.....was finally able to submit an outside of normal processing times claim, but still nothing.  Everything has been smooth sailing for us prior to covid.  Just want this to move on so he can apply for citizenship.

You don't need to wait to get the 10 year card to apply for N400 unless that's been your plan all along.

If he meets the requirements, you don't need to wait, as elmers says - some places even do combo interviews for both apparently, depends on the office it seems.

I'm sort of nervous. We got the dreaded Nebraska filing center, filed 7/21/2021 and we've since received absolutely nothing past the original NOA1 on the 31st along with the 18 month extension. We've received no request for biometrics. We haven't even received a letter extending the Greencard for 24 months instead of the 18....Should we make a phone call? Is there any point? We'd at least like to get the additional extension

Yes, there is a point. You want an ADIT stamp on your passport in case you need to travel internationally or change jobs. Call USCIS, say “info pass” and they’ll connect you to a live agent to make an appointment at your local field office.

By the way, I’m also a LIN filer. I filed February this year, and did not get anything except for the NOA1. No biometrics, no nothing… your post is making me think that we’re in for a long wait. Ugh!

If it makes you feel better I am slightly an idiot. I just found the 24 month extension that we definitely did get but must have gotten caught in the maelstrom of the last year. USPS Informed Delivery + never deleting email is actually really useful. Once I confirmed we got some sort of notice from USCIS in October I knew it had to be somewhere and there was a limited number of places I'd have shoved it :)

So That worry is over. Now it's just waiting until July to start the Naturalization Process

Best bet would be to look at the spreadsheet as well as looking at the spreadsheets for January 2021 going backwards.  (I say January 2021 as I have yet to see anyone from February 2021 getting approved.)  However, it is very difficult to tell with LIN.  They seem to have a sputter when it comes to processing.  Nothing...nothing...nothing... OMG A TON YAY!!!  Hope!  Woohoo!! ... nothing...nothing...nothing.  (We're in the nothing period again...)  😟

Saving some digging:

Yassss!!! I have been doing this, but it is nice to get confirmation that I was doing the right thing. Most cases seem to see some movement 2-6 months after biometrics. My big question is what happens after biometrics internally. The reason I am asking is because my AOS interview was waived, so I am pretty sure we will have a ROC interview. Therefore, I wonder if after biometrics the applications go straight to the FO. Or if I am not going to have an interview, do they just sit at LIN?

I am honestly really curious about how the whole processing works. I know LIN is slow (well, USCIS is slow *sighs*). I am also a very curious person and I am just wondering where my file is physically.

Don't want to make it too long, if you read my signature you can see it, but basically we were scheduled to go for an AOS interview on March 18th 2020, right when *#######* hit the fan with COVID. So we got a call from the nicest officer saying our interview was cancelled. Then, around two weeks later we got a letter RFE straight from the FO asking us to mail the evidence we were going to provide at the interview. We had everything organized in a binder with labels, so we just put the binder in a box and off it went. Approval came two weeks later. So we did not have an interview, but we did mail the evidence. Wonder if that counts as a waiver or not. I also wonder if my case is marked as waived or not. So many questions lol.

Not sure about some of it.  Some people who didn't have an interview before have to have one now, but that's not a hard and fast rule -- some still don't have to have an interview while some who had an interview previously still have one again.  Sometimes I wonder if USCIS just throws a dart at a board to see what they'll do next.
