Hello, just one question if I may since am sure that you to have done this being married to a American. Ok, my wife in Pampanga. Does she need to get a NBI clearance or a Police clearance from her City or both?

As to your question about NBI, vs Police Certificate.

It has been said in many posts that NBI Clearance is all that is needed.

But I , like many have received an RFE for not including Police Certificates for all cities lived in within the Philippines. It is badly worded saying that Police Certtificates are needed only if having lived in cities other then the Phils. But at NVC, they have given RFE's to many as I say including us for not including them. My wife lived in 3 cities, and we sent only 2 police certificates. We received an RFE for not including the 3rd.

they send you a checklist telling you what is missing and to resubmit the missing information, document, etc. This can lead to delays of 2 to 4 weeks, and as with us, That 3rd certificate was for a city she lived in while attending College, so we know it was not for the one currently lived in. They are only good for 6 months however, so you will want to get them prior to sending to NVC so they wont expire, that is what we were told by NVC. Others may tell you otherwise, but if you go back in time you will see others who did get RFE's for not doing so. Many have made it thru without them, so it seems to be a case by case issue...imagine that with immigration...hahaha

So anyway,do as you see is best, or just get both as i have said, and play it safe. Being delayed by misinformation, or simply taking risks in hopes for a quicker, hurdle free path is taking chances.
