As of today 4/11/2019, the processing time at Des Moines USCIS office is.  Why is it so?  I don't see many people in Des Moines, waiting for their I485 to be approved.  Lol

Your profile says “K-1” but those statistics are for people doing employment-based AOS. This is typically longer because there are different steps involved. You are going through the marriage/family-based AOS. That’s usually quicker because they want everyone to get the conditional GC so that they have to go through ROC and pay more fees. If K-based AOS took 24 months the spouses would receive an unconditional GC and the government would lose the ROC revenue. Employment-based AOS applicants don’t go through the ROC stage.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Do you have a memo to support this because this is not your typical bureaucratic attitude

YMMV

Eh; the official estimated range for family-based AOS there is about the same as employment-based. And while Des Moines seems a bit slower than average, it's not by much. Also very much doubt they manipulate the process to maximize fee revenue (or to minimize work, which going the other way would accomplish). It's just not important enough even to USCIS (which is a rounding error in the federal budget).

Having said that

  • The official estimates are '50% done - ~90% done' ranges
  • anecdotally, adjustments from K-1s are usually faster than the official estimates; it's been speculated that this is because they've already been interviewed and had security checks done once

Replacement card requires no involvement of the local field office
