Simple question about filling out a foreign address on the I-130 form. For example questions 11.a-11.h or 19.a-19.d.

When asked for an address outside the USA(in this case Mexico) do I...

1) Hand write the abbreviated state in the "state" box

2) Spell out the full Mexican state in the "province" box

3) Leave "state" and "province" empty and fill out street/city/postal code/country only

Thanks for the help.

Type out the Mexican state in the province box.

Just type as much as you can fit on the address field, leave state empty, and fill out country and postal code.

Type again THE WHOLE ADDRESS -street, number, building and/or apartment if any, city, state, country and postal code- on the last page (the one to add extra information).

If i only need to add the state would you still write out the whole address?

This is what I prefer to do but im afraid it might cause some confusion since mexico uses "states" like the usa.

Really.  Just do what I suggested.  Anybody looking at it knows what it means.

Elaborating....If you write an address 123 main street, anytown, Ontario, Canada, nobody cares if Ontario is a state or province.  Same goes for Mexico or any other country.  State is for a US State.  Province is for anything that come between "city" and "country" for any other country.
