I want to say something because I’ve seen A LOT of misinformation regarding Medicaid. Medicaid is currently NOT subject to consideration of being a public charge. It says so right on the USCIS website. Trump has PROPOSED something that might tweak that. In that case, reconsideration of whether or not you should use Medicaid as a recent (or less than 5 year) immigrant  would be a good idea. Another point, there has been confusing wording but really no reason to believe this change (if it even happens) would be retroactive. Please stop the fear mongering. It helps no one to spread misinformation. If you are eligible for Medicaid, then use it. It is highly unlikely any change would ever be retroactive. There would be a complete influx of lawsuits and such.

For myself, it isn't about 'not' using medicaid if qualified as a recent LPR,  it's being able to take care of yourself financially and.or having a job or work that enables you to have medical coverage, or finding an alternative solution. It takes money, planning, time, investment for anyone to immigrate, and unfortunately a lot of people don't ever consider medical/dental or other such things. It's more of a guidance to also improve your situation more than saying don't use medicaid. A lot of others probably would agree.

I’m talking specifically about users who have told others if they use Medicaid they’re eligible for that they’ll be deemed a public charge risk. I’m not a life coach.

That is true, there shouldn't be people telling that type of misinformation. Until a law is changed, people should not present it as such nor try to insinuate what would happen once a law was changed such as the 'retroactive' possibilities, because no one knows and yea, doubt that would happen anyways. I'm not a life coach either, haha I could use one for some areas personally, it's always just general advice.

I just don’t think people should be basing their advice off of what they think people should be doing or their opinion of anything. We should all just be discussing current facts.

It’s also always wise for any one with a question to seek out the information first hand from the official agency sites. Relying on more anecdotal information alone is a recipe for later disaster

A combination of both. It is also wise to seek advice from those who have gone before you. But double check yourself absolutely.
