 Hi, everyone!

i am a spouse of military and wating for the interview for ‘I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence’ . I just received combo card a month ago, but still waiting for conditional resident at the moment.

Meanwhile, my husband will be deployed this summer. I think i can receive the conditional resident card before leave the states, but here is my question;

If I go abroad on a conditional resident status, can I apply and expedite my citizenship even I cannot be present a permanent resident? Or should I remove the conditions on residence firstly?

We will stay overseas 3 years, and I’d like to know what is the next  steps, and how long it will take to get a citizenship. If somebody has an experience, pls share the info :)

thanks!!

No, you cannot expedite citizenship. As long as you are on his orders for deployment your time overseas should still count towards residency.

Actually once they receive the GC then yes they can expedite it for Naturalization. But it would have to be after receiving the GC.

Shouldn’t the OP file for ROC before applying and requesting citizenship expedite?  I believe OP is also asking about if she can directly apply for citizenship without ROC?

No, once they have the actual GC and are due to be on orders with their military spouse then they can file for expedited Naturalization.

I've read the linked post, and it helped me a lot.

Now I am under the impression that I can expedite naturalization after receiving GC, without ROC! Thank you so much :)))

You should be able to expedite both your ROC and Citizenship paperwork as you will still be overseas during both time frames.  Call the military help line at USCIS and they will be able to provide you with answers.
