How long to correct?

I apply for green card (AOS). But they mess up the name between me and my friend (I have no Idea who mess it up between my lawyer or the USCIS because we do the same lawyer, same restaurant and the same time.) I already have SSN and my case is already proved but the name is my friend's name. so how long for the process to correct the name. (they call Typographic Error) The USCIS send the message they will correct the since July,2018. Until now I didn't get any message from the USCIS. I don't know how long for the process to change the name. And now I am still F1 Visa. So do I have to keep my status until I get an interview or not ?
And I didn't have any received number to check the process.

You mentioned it was either your lawyer's error or an error by USCIS.  If it was your lawyer's fault, shouldn't they be responsible for correcting it?

                                 I think it's my lawyer do it wrong.  The last document from the USCIS that sent to me (since July,17,2018) about the detail that they already get and they will do it.  But until now I didn't get any message from USCIS to check status or tell me about the process for now.  So how can I do to check status or how long for the process.  Anyone else used to get in the same situation as me or recommendation to me please.  I have already waited for almost 9 month.  I have no idea how long I have to wait for the USCIS to finish to correct my name.
