My wife and I did her biometrics on Apr 8. We called USCIS Apr 9 to request an EAD expedite based on severe financial loss.

  • We concurrently filed I-130 and I-485, but the USCIS rep mentioned I-129 for some reason. I reiterated the forms that we had filed. Is there any reason she would have mentioned I-129?
  • I provided an email address, phone number, and mailing address. She said that we would receive a call/email/letter by April 14, and to call back if we don't by then. Is there a way to independently check that the request was successfully inputted online? All I see when logging on is the receipt number for our 4 forms. In addition, there seemed to be some confusion on her end about my email address - I told her it very slowly, but she didn't confirm it back. Is it worth following up to make sure they inputted it correctly? Or should I just sit tight until next Monday, the 15th?

Thank you!

On the old site (uscis.gov), when you check the status of your I-765 application, the expedite SR should appear as one of the updates. It might not say that your I-765 has any new updates; you have to click on the actual form details.

If there is no SR, call and confirm that there are no issues. If there is an SR, it's been opened. Once it says that it was "completed", you will know that an officer had sent a request for evidence. If email, you'll receive it right away. If mail, it'll take up to two weeks to arrive.

You can call and confirm that they got your correct email address if you want.

Thank you! Yes, I see that now in the I-765 page under "Next Steps". Last time, I didn't click in since I figured nothing had changed with the "Last Updated" address being the same.

Okay, I'll give them a call today to confirm.

It's my understanding that once evidence has been submitted, the expedite procedure is fairly fast? My wife needs hers before mid-June to keep her job, and I see that you got yours within a month.

Unfortunately, there's not much rhyme or reason. After I sent my evidence, it took about five business days to get approved. I've seen about the same, and two weeks, and a month, and more... I want to say that one to two weeks after evidence is pretty standard, but people have waited less, and more.

But you should be good for mid-June. Good call for doing it sooner than later. Good luck!
