Hello everyone,

Once again, I am in need of some clarifications. My husband went to get his vaccinations taken last week from a CS so we could send in his AOS paperwork. He didn’t take the required vaccinations in his medical in Mexico (for his K1 visa) so he needed to take them here in the U.S.

The doctor gave him a TD shot, an MMR shot, and a varicella shot. On the I-693A, he listed that he administered these shots and then marked INSUFFICIENT TIME INTERVAL in another column. They also gave us an appointment to go back in a month, for another set of vaccines (TD, MMR, and Varicella), which will cost us another $235.

Does this mean that he needs to get all of these vaccines again?

Is it because he has no record of these vaccines that he needs to take them again? He says that he doesn’t think his mother has a record of the vaccines he’s received since childhood. So if she has no record, will he need to get these vaccines here in the U.S.?

Thanks, I know the vaccines my husband needs. He needs TD, MMR, and VARICELLA.

We did receive the I-693A from the civil surgeon that says the vaccines were given by him. He sealed a copy in an envelope and also gave us a copy for our records. I thought everything was okay and we were done but then they scheduled my husband to go back June 22nd for the same vaccines again (it's supposed to be the second dose of the vaccines). They explained that he needs a total of 3 doses of TD, 2 doses of MMR, and 2 doses of Varicella in order for the vaccine series to be considered complete. Is this true?

Does this mean he has to go back and get all 3 vaccines given again (and pay $235 once again)?

I thought that it was sufficient for him to only receive each vaccine once in the U.S.

Someone please clarify this confusion for me.

No Ale. Since he signed the I-693 showing what was given, you're fine. The first shot in a two dose is sufficient for AOS - that's why he signed it for you. He should go back for the second doses to be medically covered, but he doesn't have to when it comes to the AOS part of it.
