Quick question, I will be sending my i751 in the summer. Looks like the processing times are 18-36 months.

Can anyone tell me how long the extension letter is valid for once the green card expires?

Also does my work authorisation card also need my attention?

1) Processing time vary a lot, 6 months to 2 years plus. Depends on region you live in, the evidence you provide, and other unknown factors.

2) The extension letter last 18 months from the date your conditional green card expires, i551 stamps in passport are available for 1 year if needed after the extension letter expires.

3) No work permit needed, you remain a Legal Permanent Resident  even after your green card expires and even after your extension expires only your proof of your continued LPR status expires. Your LPR status remains in effect as long as you have a pending i751.

File your i751 package within 90 days of the expiration of the green card. Your USCIS notice of action of receipt of your i751 application has your extension letter, that and the expired CGC will allow you travel, renew drivers license, get a new job.

Hello Everyone,

My husband got this update today. How long does it take to get the interview date? Also, does anyone know anything about the Minneapolis/St Paul MN office? That’s where it will be. Thanks for any and all info 😀

So, you got this notification in May and are still waiting? Wow! My husband has his 18 month extension letter that will expire in Oct. but is eligible to file for citizenship at the end of this month. So, you think we should just file it? Thanks 😊

I have not heard anything since May 2019.  I did receive a 1 year stamp this past November.  If the ultimate goal is citizenship, then it may be best to file as soon as he is eligible.  I applied for citizenship in June 2020.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

Oh wow ok. Yeah we will just go forward and apply for citizenship for him then. Thanks for the info

Hello fellow filers,

I need some perspective and would appreciate every input possible:

  1. Issued a request for missing mail on December 19th, regarding not yet received biometrics notice, 170 days later, way past the re-opening date of the ASC’s. I was unable to get to an officer, that is why I filed missing mail.
  2. January 5, 2021: Case status update: Notice from USCIS returned because USPS could not deliver it.
  3. January 5, 2021, 2:48 PM: Called USCIS Service Center and spoke with Tier 1 - possibly the biometrics notice - something was requested on December 4th. Put into line for call back (urgent/48 hours).
  4. January 8 - never received callback. Called again to confirm, I was still scheduled for callback.
  5. January 12th - never received a call back. Called again to ask wether I was still in queue, Tier 1 issued a new urgent call back request.
  6. January 13th - called USCIS again to inquire wether or not Tier 1 might be able to send a re-send request for notice, as I am still not able to send another one. She confirmed order for biometrics issued on the 4th of December and sent to respective authority for scheduling (possibly Atlanta FO?). Tier1 confirmed I was still in line for call back, and assigned to Tier 2 officer.
  7. Tier 2 officer called me from number which was sent as confirmation by the Tier1. I currently have no biometrics scheduled and need to wait a couple more weeks. As soon as an appt. becomes available, I will receive appointment notice via mail. He did not know what notice was returned, nothing indicates what was sent. He seemed confused by that - My application looks fine.
  8. Received confirmation of “case status pending” from Tier 2 I spoke to via email
  9. January 15: USCIS chat to find out what kind of notice was NOT delivered and wether or not I should have it re-delivered. Agent said it was biometrics notice. Also said I cannot file another request for emailing. Nobody has been assigned to that SR. I told her the Tier2 didn't see anything scheduled. She as well could not see a date scheduled (at this time). She refused to put me back into a calling queue, because I already spoke to a Tier2 about this. Chat log is available if you guys want to see it.

I am absolutely ... I don't know what I am. Exhausted maybe. We wanted to buy a house this year and were already in the process, but put it off to next year. because this is way too insecure at this stage regarding address change or receiving mail from USCIS. I have my name in my mailbox, I have informed delivery (this mail piece from USCIS never appeared in ID), USPS had nothing on the 5th of January for me, I asked both mail lady and delivery supervisor, they went searching in all nooks and crannies of the main post office. TWICE! Anybody experienced similar? What else can I do?

Craving answers. Also, No case status changes anywhere  -  case status switched from "we received your application" to "Mail returned". No biometrics scheduled, no RFE issued, no nothing

Perfectly normal during the pandemic. Depending on how slow your field office is, you can wait for years to get an interview (i-751 cases that end up at NBC/MSC will almost always have interviews). So you likely still have a long way to go.
