I had my interview today, I filed divorce waive in the end of March

cos I am divorced, so the officer ask a lot detail from when we met, got married, what happened, when we divorced

In the end, she said I just wait for few weeks for my green card

(they didn't say approve or not, but my lawyer said it means yes, I got the green card)

the interview didn't take long (about 30-40 mins) and the officer was nice

 

my online status not change yet, I will keep you guys update!!

So we had our interview yesterday and things seemed to be ok? The IO said she would "approve the case" but then I checked my status today and it says this:

Interview Cancelled And Notice Ordered

On October 17, 2019, we cancelled your interview for your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXXX, and mailed you a cancellation notice. We will notify you by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made, or if we need something from you. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by November 16, 2019, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

I'm really confused. How could the interview be cancelled if we already had an interview? Is this just a mistake? Since the IO said they would approve the case, why doesn't our status just say "Case was approved"? Now I'm concerned that something went wrong.

I don't think there is a problem......it might just be an interim status before "case was approved"......or "Card is being produced".....

The interview itself was really straight forward. I'll break down the highlights:

 

IO asked questions such as how we met, what we do for a living, when we got married and when we started living together, if we have/had any children, why we had moved/located (changed addresses), and asked to add any additional evidence if we wanted. The entire thing probably took less than 15 minutes.

 

The IO had all of the paperwork/evidence that we had previously submitted on the desk when we walked in. She said we had a "pretty good sized file" which is probably why our interview was short and to the point. The atmosphere of the interview was informal/relaxed, the IO was already very knowledgable about our case: she knew the addresses of our residences, she knew our marriage date, and seemed to have all the details about our case in her head and was just verifying that our answers would correspond with that. 

 

Overall, it was a pretty pleasant interview. I didn't feel interrogated and it felt more just like a formality in order to check that we were real people and we matched our photos and that our story matched what we submitted. We did have to wait about 30 minutes at USCIS before being called in, so keep in mind that your interview may not happen at the exact time listed on your letter. Ours said 11:55am, but we didn't get called in for the interview until around 12:25pm. So block out enough time in your schedule to account for delays.

I'm glad! Haha, I also saw a couple of the other IO's, as they were coming out into the waiting room and calling applicants by name (despite being given a number, there was no number board and no numbers were called. The IO's were just coming into the room and calling everyone like at a doctor's office, lol. If you have an unusual name, be prepared to have it butchered and mispronounced, LOL). The other IO's that I saw seemed really friendly and chatty, I saw them asking people how they were doing, smiling, etc...maybe that's just our field office, but hopefully it'll be a similar experience for you if you have to do the interview!

Status update on my case .... a month ago (sept 18th it said ready to be scheduled for an interview) and I just checked (oct 18), status changed today to “interview was scheduled”!  I sent my packet at the end of June

California.... well, I am in Santa Cruz, California and had my biometrics appointment in Salinas, CA.... but not sure where the interview will be held. Perhaps in San Jose..
