My I-751 is still pending, and my 24month extension will expire soon, do I need to get the I-551 stamp before I receive the 48 month extension letter? Will I lose my legal status if the 24 month extension expires and I don’t have the temporary evidence stamp??
Thank you in advance!

You will NOT lose legal status when your extension letter expires.  If you need evidence of status, you can get an ADIT stamp.

No - you will still be in status when your 24 month extension expires, you just can't travel until you receive the new 48 month letter. Some folks who get the ADIT stamp have their green card taken away, so if I was you my preference would be to wait for the 48 month letter and keep your expired GC.

Wow a 48 month extension letter after the 24 month. That is crazy.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Just received my 10-year Green card today. Here is the timeline of my case:

02/01/2021     Case Received by USCIS

03/08/2021     I-797 NOA Letter Received

08/27/2021     Biometric Appointment Done

11/10/2021     Case Ready To Be Scheduled For Interview

12/13/2021     24 Month Letter Received

01/24/2023     Called USCIS For I-551 Stamp

01/25/2023     Missed 1st Attempt Call (They left voice message saying they will call me again, but I didn’t get any calls from them since then.)

02/18/2023     New Card Is Being Produced

02/21/2023     Case Approval Notice Sent

02/24/2023     Card Was Mailed to Me

02/25/2023     Card Was Delivered/48 Month Letter Delivered too

Field Office: Orlando

Receipt Number Starts With MSC

Seems like interview waiving is happening. I’m not sure if me calling them to request the stamp has anything to do with triggering the process moving forward or not. I do find it a bit strange that they sent me the 48 month letter at same time with green card.
Waiting for sure gets frustrating sometimes. I hope this helps a little bit and gives whoever in the same situation some hope.

Did you get an approval letter before you found out online you were approved? My hubs has been ready to schedule interview since 2019 and in our mail app i see hes getting a letter from NBC today. Thats the first contact weve had since his original extension letter.

That could be the 48 month extension letter.

Damn really? 🥲 3 years after his original one expired and his ADIT stamp expired?

Yep.  The 48 month extension letter would be of little value in your case.  It would expire this year.  I can't think of anything else which would come from NBC.  We were in the same situation until my wife filed her N-400.  Her I-751 had been "Case is Ready to be scheduled for an interview" since May 2019.

I did get an Approval Letter but it was after I found out my case was approved online. They updated the status to ”Case Approved” and sent the letter on the same day. I think it could be the 48 month letter too.

Hi,

I filed I-751 in October 2020, fingerprints were done in July 2021, status is stucked at 'Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken' since then.
Anyone else's shows same status for so long?

P.S. Filed N400 in September 2021, status shows 'case is being actively reviewed'.

I'm in the same boat as you, @Utah123 - I filed I-751 in Nov 2020, was a dreaded YSC, but then my case was transferred in Sept 2022 following my N-400 (Orlando) application. I was at the biometrics stage when my case was at YSC and am back there again now my case is at (I assume) NBC.

Can anyone weigh in? Is it unusual not to move to the "ready to be scheduled for interview" status?
